EightCap MetaTrader 5: Platform Specs and Execution Reality

Explore EightCap's MetaTrader 5 setup: Raw spreads from 0.0 pips, 800+ CFDs, and high leverage for UAE traders. See the specs.

The MT5 Core

MetaTrader 5 at EightCap is the full desktop client with the complete MQL5 ecosystem, built-in economic calendar, and six pending order types. For UAE-based traders, the practical advantage is depth: you get 21 timeframes and full market depth (Depth of Market) on every instrument.

Execution relies on the offshore entity, Eightcap Global Limited (Bahamas SCB). Margin requirements and order routing follow that jurisdiction's rules. The platform handles 800+ CFD instruments, including ~56 forex pairs and a crypto range exceeding 100 coins.

Account Structures

Two account types are available:

AccountSpread ModelCommissionMin Deposit
StandardFrom 1.0 pipNoneUSD 100
RawFrom 0.0 pipsUSD 3.50 per lot per sideUSD 100
The Raw account is suited for strategies that scalp, with a 0.0 pip starting spread and fixed USD 3.50 per side. The Standard account is for manual traders who value simplicity over tight execution.

Order Types and Depth

MT5 supports market, limit, stop, stop-limit, and trailing stop orders. The Depth of Market is streamed, though liquidity varies by session. During London hours (11:00–20:00 GST), forex pairs show reliable depth. Crypto CFDs have thinner order books, so limit orders fill slower.

On news events, slippage is normal. A stop-loss on a major pair might slip 1–2 pips during high-impact releases. This is standard for offshore execution.

GOOD TO KNOW
The UAE mainland leverage cap is ~1:50 for major FX pairs. EightCap offers up to 1:500 via the Bahamas entity. On MT5, you control leverage per order-you do not have to use the maximum.

Latency and Server Architecture

EightCap uses Equinix data centers. Server location relative to your signal source determines execution speed. A direct connection from Dubai to the London server averages 80–120 ms, which is acceptable for swing trading but not for manual scalping.

The platform's timer and tick history are accurate. You can backtest EAs on the full MQL5 strategy tester with real tick data, a feature MT4 does not handle natively.

Costs Beyond the Spread

Funding has no broker-side fees. The minimum deposit is USD 100. Cards, bank wire, Skrill, Neteller, and UnionPay are accepted. Base currencies include AUD, USD, EUR, GBP, NZD, CAD, and SGD. There is no AED-denominated account verified, so UAE traders funding in AED will incur conversion costs at the payment provider level.

Withdrawals follow the same rails. Bank wires take 1–2 business days; cards and e-wallets are typically instant or same-day.

Regulatory Structure

Eightcap Financial Services MENA LLC holds a UAE SCA Category 5 licence (issued 15 Jan 2025) for financial consultation and introduction only, not full brokerage. Actual trade execution occurs under the Bahamas SCB entity, which is not subject to UAE leverage caps or DFSA oversight.

On MT5, platform settings, leverage, and margin calls follow Bahamas rules. You are not protected by the SCA's investor compensation fund for the execution entity. This is a common setup for international brokers marketing to the Gulf region, but client agreement specifics should be verified before depositing.

There is also no verified Islamic swap-free account at the time of review. The broker does not consistently offer a Sharia-compliant account, which is uncommon for the UAE market where most competitors (54 of 67 reviewed) provide it.

MT5 vs. Alternatives

Compared to MT4, MT5 provides better backtesting and a more modern interface. Compared to TradingView (also offered by EightCap), MT5 offers native EA environment and automated trading.

The choice depends on workflow. For strategies relying on automation, MT5 is the only option. For manual trading from charts, TradingView's integration is smoother.

When to Choose It

You need the full MQL5 environment for EA development or copy-trading logic. The Raw account offers cost transparency, and the 1:500 leverage ceiling on the offshore entity suits strategies that manage risk actively. The crypto CFD range (100+ coins) is a differentiator versus most regulated competitors that cap at 20–30.

When to Reconsider

You are a strictly manual trader seeking the lowest spreads on major pairs. A stricter jurisdiction, like FCA or CySEC, offers tighter oversight, segregated funds, and conservative leverage caps. If Islamic account availability is essential, confirm swap-free status with support before funding. If AED-denominated accounting is critical, the lack of AED base currency adds administrative friction.

The platform is technically sound. The question is whether the offshore execution model fits your risk tolerance.
